MPA-MIS

MPA-MIS Program

For students who began the MPA-MIS dual degree between Fall 2022 and Spring 2026.

The MPA-MIS dual degree allows students to pair the Master of Public Affairs from O'Neill with the Master of Information Science from the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering.

Students must complete at least 36 credit hours of O'Neill courses toward their MPA degree requirements. No additional outside courses will be approved toward the MPA degree requirements for students pursuing the MPA-MIS dual degree.

Students should consult with the Luddy School for the most up-to-date MIS degree requirements.

SPCN-V 600   Capstone in Public Affairs (last semester course)

 

Note that the 1.5 credit courses (V 532, V 536, V 537, and V 548) will be offered in Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and Spring 2027 only. They will not be offered after Spring 2027. Students who must take these courses to complete their degree should plan to complete the courses in these terms. Students should consult with their advisor if they will not be able to complete the courses when offered.

MPA Requirement II: Concentration (12 credit hours)

Students pursuing the dual MPA-MIS program are expected to complete a 12-credit hour specialized concentration. Students should consult with an advisor before selecting courses toward the concentration or submitting any necessary forms.

To Note:

A minimum of 36 O’Neill credits must be earned between the core and concentration. Courses outside O'Neill will not be approved toward these requirements. Students cannot be waived of concentration requirements.

MPA-MIS students are not required to complete an internship/experiential learning as part of the MPA degree requirements.
