- Core coursework (first year)
- Pass Preliminary Exam (first year)
- Form Progress Review Committee (first year)
- Third Semester Review (second year)
- Pass Qualifying Exam (second year)
- Complete your major and minor field coursework.
- Once coursework completed and qualifying exams passed submit Nomination to Candidacy (eDoc)
- Continuous enrollment (G901, six semesters limit)
- Submit Nomination of Research Committee (eDoc)
- Third Year Paper, also known as Proposal Defense
- Submit Defense Announcement (eDoc)
- Defend Dissertation
- Removal of “R” Grades
- Submit dissertation by 15th of the month you with to graduate. Deadlines for May and December vary.
- Submit formatting changes
- If participating in IU Commencement Ceremony submit Ph.D. Commencement Participation Application.
- Verify Office of Registrar has correct spelling of your name and updated mailing address for diploma mailing
- Complete Survey of Earned Doctorates (SED)
- Complete University Graduate School exit survey
